FYI, I've been testing BandHelper on iOS 18 this week and so far I've only found one small cosmetic issue. If you see an issue on iOS 18, please submit a help ticket.

My experience from last night's gig, in case this has not been seen before - but I suspect it has.
This relates to the recent iOS 18.3.2 - if that's relevant.

I set up and switched on as usual, with the BH iPad connecting via 5GHz to my router, with no internet, as always.

The iPad wanted to verify its latest iOS update, which it had already downloaded.
I tried to back out of that or cancel but the screen would not accept input.
I tried to force a power-off but the "slide to switch off" control was not available.
I hoped it would time-out but it didn't.
I switched on my Hotspot, hoping it would see that and connect.  It didn't.
I switched off my 5GHz router, hoping to encourage the switchover but no luck.
Several more attempts at pressing or long-pressing Power, with- and without Vol up/down, also failed, so I decided to give up.
Time was ticking for the start of the gig.

So I set about using my 'B' iPad instead, normally used for mixer control.  It needed a BH Sync, which took quite a while on the Hotspot but eventually worked ok.  That iPad is normally set for Mono, in Accessibility, for occupying just 1 mixer channel for Muzak, so I un-did that.
By the time I'd done all that (and maybe a few more attempts on the 'A' iPad) that original one came back to life, of course at exactly that moment.
So I put it all back to normal and carried on.

What I learned was to have my BH iPad set to Manual Updates, because iOS seems unable to cope with an initial absence of Internet, in this process.  That said, it clearly did succeed in switching routers at some point but failed to tell me so before, during or after the lengthy Verify phase.

(if you want this somewhere else, feel free)

That's frustrating that iOS wouldn't let you cancel the update! I agree that switching to manual updates is a good idea (and manual downloads, if space on your device is a concern).

Yes indeed. Thanks Arlo.  First (and last) time that's bitten me.
