Automation Recording

As I mentioned in another thread, I am now looking at automation recording as a method to sync midi data with an audio recording using BandHelper on an Android device. It is a bit clunky, but it should serve my purposes. After playing with it a little, I wanted to stop in and see if it was technically feasible, and worth it, for you to possibly consider coding a new feature into it in the future?

The main thing is I was curious about is if if the Automation Recording function could have the ability to directly add midi presents to a recording, without actually running a recorded automation? Something like just editing a blank, or existing, automation recording file, and add the necessary start and stop time parameters for the running time, and any presets that would be included at a given time. Similar to editing an automation recording file, but also adding parameters. The edit function is extremely useful. I was just curious if programming an automation by hand could also be possible someday? It sure would speed up the process when syncing midi data to song files, as some songs can be quite long, and also make Bandhelper a bit more powerful where sending midi data is concerned. But in any case, just an idea I had while creating some automation recordings, and editing them afterwards.  :)

Do you mean you want to add an event directly to an automation track, without recording it? And you want to write the automation track code in a text file and import it? Those ideas are both on my wish list and I can let you know if I add them.

Yes, exactly. Just directly add a command or preset. I was sort of thinking of just doing it through your Automation Track Edit user interface, but an imported Text file could probably work too.

I too would find that useful. And or perhaps if the time could be absolute so we wouldn't have to always start recording at the beginning.

In the app version 4.0 released yesterday, you can click Add an Event in the automation track edit window to add an event directly. You can then adjust the timing as needed.

All today's changes are listed here:
