Preventing alerts, texts, etc while using for tracks

Will the "Let other apps play audio in the background" stop system sounds like email and text alerts ?  I am only using the app for set list, tracks, and midi program changes so I'd like to use my iphone instead of the ipad. 

What should I do to ensure I don't get any unwanted sounds other than tracks?  I do need bluetooth (for midi) and wi-fi (no internet connection)  for the mixer app.

Turning on the phone's Do Not Disturb function is an easy way to stop alerts from interrupting your performance.
