Event details to be shown in calendar feed

Hi arlo,

not sure if this was already covered but I could not find it on the forums:

Currently, the details published in the calendar feed only show

- projects the event is available in
- public or not
- project name.

Is there a way to show all additional information, especially the user fields, in the notes-section of the calendar app as well?
I appreciate that one can find all info by simply opening Bandhelper but the overview in ical would also be helpful.

The iCal feed includes the event name, start and end date and time, project, category, users and the address of the first attached contact. Adding the custom fields is on my wish list and I'll add a vote for you. Those would have to go into the Notes field along with the project, category, users and address and I don't know how messy that would get.

Hi arlo,

thanks for adding my vote. To prevent the details from getting out of hand, it might be an option to simply add the name of the custom field followed by ": " to keep the overview.

Event custom fields now have an Include in iCalendar Feed setting, and if you turn that on, the custom field values will be included in the event description published to the iCal feed.

Hi, would it also be possible to optionally include start time, stop time, and pay?

FWIW, we want to manage the schedule in BandHelper, but also track everything in a linked spreadsheet with all gig details (everything that's in the csv export).

Currently parsing the ical for this purpose, but would be awesome at some point if we could just point our file at a tabular schedule on the server.

Thanks

arlo

The start and end time is already included. I can put the Pay field on my wish list, but for the purpose that the iCal feed is intended for, I don't think that's a great idea because any considerations about the pay should be addressed before you commit to a gig.

What are you getting from a separate spreadsheet that you don't get from managing events in BandHelper?

Thanks for the reply. Just realized the times are appended to the dates, that's great.

We don't really need Pay in a calendar feed, although it could be helpful both before and after committing.

In general we can use everything outside of BH to aid in bookkeeping, travel planning & tracking, templating imports for other sites like BandInTown, tracking hotels and other travel details, and non-bandmembers need to have access to it.

Right now I'm building a travel tracker using the Google Maps API to do route/gas calcs for tour runs so everyone doesn't have to keep receipts if they don't want to.

Have you looked at the JSON feed for events?

That's meant for public display on your website, so it definitely won't include the pay, and it also doesn't include the list of users, but it can include custom fields that you mark as public.
