Hi All
Is there a simple way to hide the MIDI presets I use to control my modeler from the other user accounts in the band? They are not used by anyone else and between the different member's settings it is a bit cluttered. We already have them names according to the user account using them so not really looking for a way to organize it, just to hide the ones I don't use.

Thanks for any ideas

Other users' MIDI presets are always hidden when viewing songs. You can hide them in the list of MIDI presets by setting the User filter to yourself.

Ah ok is how that works. I am still learning the interface. Great App!!!!

I'm missing something here. I'm using BandHelper and have multiple MIDI devices and presets defined and that's all working great. But now a 2nd band member is getting into MIDI. I can see how we can hide each other's devices and presets using the filter but when he goes to edit a song he sees all of the MIDI presets that I have setup for that song. The MIDI presets in the song view actually look like global parameters.

To be clear, the question is, is there a way to have only the presets a specific band member adds to a song show up in the edit song view. What we see right now is that all the MIDI presets for a song are listed together (that is all the presets I have for the song plus all the presets every other member has for the song). Also we'd expect we could have MIDI presets named the same - e.g., two guitarists might both have a CLEAN preset but this doesn't look like it will work. Do I have a setting misconfigured? Thanks for any guidance!

All attached MIDI presets (and documents and recordings) will be shown on the song edit page regardless of what users they are assigned to. Users with Added Data editing access will see but will not be able to edit, move or remove MIDI presets (or documents or recordings) they didn't add. When adding your presets to a song, you can ignore the presets from other users. When you view a song, you won't see them.

And it is correct that you can't have two MIDI presets with the same name.

OK got it thanks. Given that behavior I think it probably makes sense to use a naming convention between band members, e.g., every band member uses an initals prefix, "JJ_Clean", "CW_Clean", etc., avoids name conflicts but still lets everyone use the names that make most sense to them.

Yes, that would make sense in your situation.

Note that multiple users can also put their info into the same MIDI preset. This would make sense if you are adding one MIDI preset per song, or one preset per section of the song. In that case, you can look inside the preset at the MIDI device names to see which MIDI messages are used by which people.

The name overlap hasn't come up as far as I can recall, which suggests that either most bands have only one person using MIDI, or band members are sharing presets.

The best approach depends on your usage: do you mostly have a different program for every song, or do you reuse a smaller set of programs across multiple songs; and does everyone in the band change programs at the same time, or are different members changing programs at different times.
