MIDI program change directly in Song?

Hello, I am a frequent user of BandHelper and play in various top 40 bands. I use BandHelper to create songs and trigger the right programs on my Nord Stage 4 through the MIDI interface.

This is a little bothersome. For each song, I need to create that song, and additionally a MIDI preset with the program change number. I need to integrate this into my song. When I click on the song in performance mode, the media preset is triggered and switches programs on my keyboard.

Now, I was wondering if there is a shortcut to this. In the ideal world, the program change number is already integrated into the song without the need to create additional MIDI presets. This would save a lot of clicking, integrating, programming work. As there is always a 1:1 relationship (one song, one preset) the functionality of having 1:n media presets in a song does not make sense, for me at least.

As I easily speak of 200 songs and more, this is a decent amount of work to be done.

Therefore, my question: is this shortcut possible?

No, you cannot send MIDI without creating a MIDI preset. It's a little more work to set up, but then you have many more possibilities, like updating multiple devices per song, setting up different MIDI for different users or sharing a preset across multiple songs.

If you create a MIDI preset from the Add MIDI Presets button on a song edit page, that will attach the new preset to that song, saving some steps.

Thank you Arlo for the explanation.
I understand and can live with it. I just need to administer a double set of data for each song (2x: song, MIDI preset) but if that is the basic logic of the app's core, I will make the best out of it. Thanks and have a nice day.
