sending tracks and click with band helper

I run Band Helper on an ipad.
It has a set list and changes sounds on my new modx m7.
I want to run backing track through the ipad and click.
THE PROBLEM:
modx has only main L+R outputs.
how can i run a click and keep a stere signal?

(been thinking of a simple drum machine but most of the m don't have midi in with program change or don't have a song/setlist memory)

Please share your thoughts with me.

This may or may not be an answer, depending on the need for true stereo or if you just need to send L/R to a IEM or similar.

In a duo w/tracks gig I do, we also needed a click to time intros and some song break sections. Obviously, you don't want the click in the mains. The problem was that an iPad only puts out a left/right signal, and it does it all the time.

My solution was to mix the sources going to be played in the iPad with the click left and all the music sources right. Each runs to their own input channel in the mixer. The left (click) signal is routed to the monitor sends, and muted in the mains. The right (audio) signal is routed to both the monitors and mains to be mixed with other audio inputs.

So, in IEMS, we are really getting a "Dual Mono" mix and not true stereo but it works fine. As mentioned, this is only a solution if mono is ok. If you need a true stereo output end-to-end, it will take a few more devices to accommodate that need.

You said "I want to run backing track through the ipad and click." Do you mean you want to play the backing track and click track from the iPad?

You also said "modx has only main L+R outputs." The keyboard's audio outputs wouldn't matter if you're playing the backing track from the iPad, so it's unclear what you're trying to do.

Hi arlo.
Yes.
On Bh you call it recordings.
May I add a couple of questions?
1.On Bh internal click, can you program a tempo change so where along the recording?
2. How can you make the click and recording start playing together with one Bh button?

If the answer to the first question is yes, I'll buy a 4 output sound card I think.
If not I'll have to find another way somehow...

To play a stereo backing track and a click track or the built-in tempo click to separate channels, you'd need either an older iPad with a headphone jack, or a USB audio interface with more than two channels:

To handle a tempo change in the middle of a song, you could either create an automation track that changes the tempo of the built-in tempo click at the desired time, or create a custom click track recording and play that instead of the built-in tempo click.

To start the built-in tempo and recording at the same time, you can use an app control action or create an automation track that starts both:

Wow Arlo i learning so much more on BH  now.
Follow through Q'S
1. I'm using an odd keith mcmillian k-mix audio card/mixer. While BH is perfectly changing presest on (sending on app control in ch 1) CH1 on the Yamaha modx m7 keys via ipad, it also triggers a program change of some sort on the k-mix.
How do i prevent that?
2, I've got myself a new automation button. i find it hard to cue the recoding start playing exactly after two tempo bars count in. What's the right. smart and accurate way to do that?
3. Does the tempo / click stops automatically after the recorging finishes playing? or do i need to add a stop event of some kind?
thanks a lot

1. You should set the K-Mix to listen on a different MIDI channel, or not listen at all if you don't intend to send MIDI to it.
2. If you record an automation track and don't perform the events at exactly the right times, you can edit the automation track afterwards (long-press the automation button and select Edit) and manually adjust the event times. BTW if the only thing you're using an automation track for is a tempo count-off, there is another function for that: https://www.bandhelper.com/tutorials/advanced_audio.html#count_off
3. No, you would need to stop the tempo from the automation track.
