Been using Setlist maker for a few months now. Love it!
I have my midi settings setup as text as a start of the Lyrics. I appreciate that I can send a midi signal to my multi FX (TC Electronics Nova System) using a cable but it must be possible via bluetooth? - that's a question!
I am thinking some sort of bluetooth receiver on my guitar pedal board with a cable out to the Multi FX in????
anyone help with this??
Cheers
Colin

As far as I know, there's no protocol for MIDI over Bluetooth. This product sends signals via Bluetooth to an iOS device, where its own app receives the signals, then sends one of four pre-programmed MIDI messages on to other apps:

http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigblueboard/

So it works just like a MIDI controller, but it isn't actually sending MIDI over Bluetooth.

MIDI does work over Wi-Fi, so a product like this could work:

http://wifimidi.com

However, that particular product only uses OSC, not MIDI. Some users have requested that it support MIDI as well; you could weigh in here:

Here's a product that sends MIDI from an iOS device to a Mac. It works similarly to the BlueBoard, converting MIDI to a private format for transmission and then decoding it on the Mac side with a companion Mac application:

http://betafunk.dk/blueport/

You can already do that over wi-fi with the Mac's built-in software, but this might be more convenient. If the developer added an iOS receiver app to transfer MIDI between two iOS devices, that would be even better.

Update: About a month ago I emailed the developer of the Missing Link to ask about MIDI support, but haven't received a reply. That product is out of production now and they don't seem to be interested in bringing it back.

Two options:

1. Use a pair of CME WIDI-X8- Although I am not sure if this product is available outside of Europe.

2. If you have a spare iOS device, use the app MIDI Bridge to convert into a Wireless MIDI receiver (and transmitter if needed). Set List Maker already transmits its MIDI commands via CoreMIDI.

I just ran across this app, which can transmit MIDI via Bluetooth between iOS devices and Macs. I haven't tried it myself:

Here's another option for wi-fi (not Bluetooth) MIDI:

http://www.mipuc.com

This product can be configured to send MIDI or receive MIDI, but not both at the same time.

Here's another option for sending MIDI over Bluetooth via a bridging app:

It looks nice and simple, and does input and output. I talked to a Set List Maker user today who confirmed it worked for him.

Wow...that looks really cool!

So, in theory...I could use this along with a second Bluetooth device (wireless receiver/speaker) to export MIDI and audio from SLM simultaneously?

I don't actually know if you can pair an iOS device with two devices, or with two devices of the same category (audio). Maybe it would work, but I would want to confirm that.

I am the user mentioned here. I have a MOXF8 connected to the mi.1 and am using setlist maker via ipad to send program changes, etc. So far, it is working flawlessly. Set up was a bit of a mystery b/c the device does not come with much documentation but the app is pretty intuitive so all in all, the biggest challenge was just getting setlistmaker configured right. As it turns out, this was very simple with Arlo's help.

I just ordered a second device for my keytar. I don't think you can control two devices simultaneously in the app yet but I saw a posting somewhere that lead me to believe that may be possible with future app updates.

In terms of distance, I was able to use my ipad to one floor up in my house from where the keyboard is with no latency issues and no stuck notes. I think this little device is awesome so far. I'll post updates if I encounter any issues but highly recommend this.

I was assuming that simultaneous Bluetooth connections would be a possibility, based on this:
http://www.solveyourtech.com/can-two-bluetooth-devices-connected-iphone/

I'd like to try the mi.1 along with a wireless receiver (to stream audio from SLM), but Arlo raises a valid point; will each device be seen as an `audio' device, per se, in which case they could not be used together.

Be aware that your MIDI device must provide power on the MIDI out port to power the mi.1, and I have no idea if my MIDI device (TC Voicelive 2) provides power.

[FYI for other VL2 users]

Just received confirmation from TC Helicon that the Voice Live 2 does NOT provide power from the MIDI Out port, so unless/until Quicco modifies the mi.1 to include a power supply...I'll keep using the iRig MIDI.

If you have iOS 8 and Set List Maker 4.2, you can now make Bluetooth LE connections between iOS and Mac devices with no additional hardware:
