What is the cabling from an iPad that enables sending video to an external display while sending midi to a USB-midi interface? Is that 2nd port I see on the Lightning Digital AV Adapter a USB port?
Is there an equivalent in the Android world?

The second port is a Lightning port, and I think it can only be used for charging. I have one that I could test with, if you can't find more info about it.
I don't know what options are available for Android.

I did find confirmation by a couple different posters that the 2nd port cannot pass data, and is just good for charging.
Hi Kevin, how about using an Apple TV and AirPlay for the video part? The older small model is perfect for this. This leaves the Lightning port in your iPad for the MIDI interface.
Yes, or you could do the opposite and use a cable for video but send MIDI wirelessly. A couple options for that are shown on my Hardware page:

These questions came up while researching a replacement of my 2011 Android tablet. It's looking like an iPad is the way to go, if a top priority is taking advantage of Bandhelper features in performances.
BandHelper has nearly the same features on iOS and Android, but iOS is a stronger platform for audio and MIDI functionality.
