Title: Problems with MIDI on Android.
Post by: pcmalle on January 11, 2018, 03:23:57 AM
I cannot get a MIDI connection to my Helix, when I'm using Bandhelper on my Android Tablet.

There's no problem with the MIDI connection, when I'm using MIDI Commander on the Android Tablet, or when I use Bandhelper on my iPhone.

I'm using USB over OTG.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the current Android app version 2.2.7?

Is Help > Utilities > Use Old MIDI Framework off?

Did you check the info on this page? http://forum.arlomedia.com/index.php/topic,739.0.html

I have the current app version.

I have Android version 4.4.2 so the Framwork on/off option is not there.

I did check the info about MIDI on Android, and followed the instructions regarding Force close and reconnecting, but
Bandhelper does not find the Helix.
I did try another cable, but no luck.

With MIDI commander everything works.

Did you try the suggestion of uninstalling MIDI Commander?

Yes I did.

Okay. Does the Helix have a MIDI In jack? If so, adding a MIDI interface like the MIDISport Uno between your tablet and the Helix will probably work better. Some equipment with built-in USB MIDI interfaces don't conform exactly to the MIDI standards and then my app has problems connecting. MIDI Commander seems to be more forgiving. I've only seen this with a few devices, so I'm not sure if that's the problem here, but I'm not putting further development into the old MIDI code for Android 4-5.
