Title: Widi Jack connection issues
Post by: MattM on February 26, 2024, 03:32:00 PM
Hi everyone. I'd greatly appreciate some help with my Bandhelper connection to Widi Jack. I have a strong suspicion it's an issue on the Widi Jack side but I though I'd post here too. I have a Galaxy Tab A8 running BandHelper going to a Boss RC-10R with a Widi Jack set to A. I use Bandhelper to send the BPM to the RC-10R. It works for a bit then seems to lose connection. I also seem to lose connection when I use the Widi app and it can only sometimes find it. The only way to get the connection back is to do a full restart/re-pairing on all devices but then it again loses connectivity. I've tried a huge amount of following the CME Widi guides, re-pairing, MIDI BLE connect, clearing bluetooth cache, using USB C to power the Jack, all without apparent success. I'm sure I'm probably doing something wrong so please enlighten me! Thanks.

I have a similar issue using widi Jack on android devices. (it works fine on ios)

I use it to send pc messages to my gig rig switcher. Wish I could use an android device but it just won't connect the Widi Jack properly so I'm stuck using ipad for gigs.

Are you connecting using the Connect To a Bluetooth Device button in BandHelper's MIDI Status window?

Have either of you contacted CME about this?

Their product page says the MIDI Jack is compatible with Android's built-in Bluetooth MIDI framework, which BandHelper accesses from the Connect To a Bluetooth Device button:

From the CEO. at CME....
If you want to connect multiple WIDI devices to your Tablet at the same time, please use the WIDI App to:

Under Settings:
Set the BLE Role of each WIDI device to "Force Peripheral"

Use the edit Icon next to the name of the Device to change the name of the Device.
Then you need to reboot. Unplug and plug in the Widi Out.

one by one, then you can switch them on at the same time and connect to your Tablet simultaneously.
Best Regards,
Zhao | CEO of CME
