I have been searching for information on what the difference is and how to how to utilize / what determines which Is used and how do you switch between using them per device. also will the be a copy/paste function on the web site version?
Personal fields are per user, not per device. If your personal automation track setting is on, your personal automation tracks will be used; otherwise the shared automation tracks will be used. If needed, you can turn off your personal automation track setting to use the shared automation tracks and then turn it on again to use your personal automation tracks again.
I don't expect there would be much need to use personal automation tracks. Automation tracks are typically used for something shared by the whole band, like scrolling lyrics or running the stage lights. But it is an option you can use if needed.
I'll add a copy/paste function for the website to my wish list.

The setting to turn this on/off is Located under the App Settings Gear/Account Sync/Personal Sync Settings.
