Title: Best layout for outdoor in sunshine
Post by: mahauert on March 25, 2025, 09:50:38 AM
Hi

My band and I used BandHelper for the first time outdoor under sunshine. We realized that the black background (on iPad) is maybe not the best option. Any thoughts? Is a white background better? What about battery usage with the white background?

And, how can I change the colour of the "Footnote line"? (see attached picture)

Thank you in advance and cheers

Yes, the light background will work better in sunlight, and in my experience, cleaning all the fingerprints off your screen helps a lot, too!

I don't think the choice of light or dark color theme will affect the battery life, but the screen brightness will.

You cannot change the color of the home indicator at the bottom of the screen.

Thank you so much Arlo, your input is highly appreciated.

It would be nice to allow the colour change of the bottom line. Especially in the sunshine the blue colour isn't easy readable - THANKN YOU!

When you said "footnote line" I thought you meant the literal line at the bottom of the screen. That's controlled by iOS and as far as I know it will always be opposite to the app background color. Now that you mention blue I see you were referring to the text fields in the bottom toolbar. That's controlled by BandHelper and they are always that color in either color theme, but I can add a wish list item to optionally override text colors in the light color theme to provide more contrast.

iOS has a "high contrast mode" in the Accessibility settings, but it probably overrides more than you would want. Sometimes people ask why their app colors aren't appearing and it's because they turned that setting on.
