Title: M-Vave Choclate midi
Post by: Dustin on April 30, 2025, 03:31:41 PM
Midi is crazy confusing to set up on Bandhelper. It would be amazing if it could listen for a button and assign it automatically.

I can see my controller in Band Helper, but I can't figure out what info I need to enter and where. It triggers both Keyboard and Midi icons. The messages I get are buttons in order 1-4.

Received MID input [C0,00]
Received MID input [C0,01]
Received MID input [C0,02]
Received MID input [C0,04]

From what I can tell, these don't match anything on a keyboard layout. So I'm just wondering, where should I be entering this info, and what exactly do I need to input?

What are you trying to do?

I'm trying to set it up to scroll up and down and change songs.

In the Actions section, I see options for

MIDI System Messages

MIDI Controller Messages

MIDI Note Messages

I'm guessing I need to input the info from the MIDI log into one of these sections for each action. But I'm not sure where C0 belongs. Does that go under System, Controller, or Note? And where do I put the 00 under? Since both of those are for switch 1.

Maybe I'm way off assuming the log shows the info I need to program the switches.

Right now your foot switch is sending program change messages, which isn't very useful in this situation. Can you configure it to send control change messages instead?

I found that this pedal needs software to edit what it sends. Depending on the band, we use both BandHelper and Stage Traxx 3.

At first, I set it up as a keyboard for BandHelper, but then it wouldn't work with Stage Traxx. After testing a bunch of different setups, what ended up working was creating custom CC messages for each button. Both apps responded perfectly.

Thanks for the tip about switching modes. The pedal's manual didn't mention anything about needing extra software to do that.

Okay, cool.
