I used to copy and paste so easily in bandhelper. My method has always been to go from Ultimate Guitar, Click "make personal edits", copy the text, go to https://ukegeeks.com/tools/ and paste the text and format to pro chart. Then take the formatted text and paste into bandhelper Shared Lyrics. I click the paragraph to line (but honestly this does nothing...).
EVERY TIME i paste it pastes with a ton of spaces between each line. It's odd because the ukgeeks format has no added lines.

What happens if you skip ukegeeks.com and use BandHelper's own Convert To ChordPro function?
It does the same thing where it adds the space in between each line. It also brackets the chords but sometimes causes a weird wrapping issue.
