Title: Lyrics are overlaying screen
Post by: richro65 on November 30, 2025, 02:48:11 PM
Still learning this app and watching a lot of tutorials but I can't figure this one out.  The tutorials say that when you add lyrics to a song, a document button appears and when you tap it, the lyrics appear.  In this case, the document button only appears if I add the button to the screen, and it's blue for songs with lyrics, but the lyrics come up automatically and the button does nothing. The lyrics also overlay the screen where you see the background behind them. Same thing happens if I attach them as a PDF.  See attached.

What I am looking to do is have a button where when you tap it, the lyrics appear. When you tap it again, they disappear.  And also, that there is a solid background behind them so you don't see the song info behind it.  Is this not possible or am I missing something?  Thanks

Hi richro65,

The best thing is to take a pre-made layout and edit it. For example, I took the layout "Lyrics as Fullscreen."

In any case, you should go into the editing mode to make adjustments. For example, I first turned on the buttons for "Switch Layout" and "Edit" under "Buttons in the Top Toolbar" in the details. This eliminates the somewhat cumbersome way through the menus.
This way, you can quickly switch layouts using the button at the top. To edit quickly, you just need to press the "Edit" button and then choose what you want to edit.

I love these little buttons. Thanks to arlo!!!

I'm sending a few photos. In one, you can see the expanded edit menu.
The other photos shows the song list you see when starting the layout "Lyrics as Fullscreen."

If you click on the document button there, the lyrics or the document (PDF) will open – see photo. A double-tap on this page will take you back to the song list.

Feel free to try out which buttons you can use or use a different layout as the base and edit it. It's best to leave the original and work on a copy of it.

Good luck!

Elle
