I'm wrapping up the next major release of BandHelper and Set List Maker for iOS and Android. This release focuses on navigation and design updates, including moving some functions to make them easier for new users to find. It will also include a few new features, like the ability to share layouts across devices and the ability to split the pages of a document across screens.
As with any major update, this could create confusion if you are not expecting it. Therefore I recommend reviewing these guidelines for installing new app versions now: http://forum.arlomedia.com/index.php/topic,475.0.html
Before the release, I will update this thread with release notes and a "what's new" video so you can further prepare for and take full advantage of the updates. I plan to publish the release around the end of June.
It looks like I will be submitting the new app versions on Monday, June 27 and releasing them as soon as Apple approves the iOS versions, hopefully 1-2 days later.
I have posted the release notes here, so you can review the upcoming changes in detail:

I'll post a video highlighting the most significant changes next.

YES,
impressive list. I´m glad my last minute bug report made it onto it. (crash on return to document view).
Thanks Arlo + keep up the good work

Can't wait to get my hands on it.
++ For making remote control editing much more intuitive
These updates are now approved and should be available for download within a few hours.
I've just submitted the first patches, with fixes detailed in the release notes:
http://www.bandhelper.com/support/release_notes.html
http://www.arlomedia.com/apps/setlistmaker/support/release_notes.html
The Android versions should be available in a few hours; the iOS versions when Apple approves them, hopefully within 48 hours.
Not had the chance to open up slm, but watched the video,
Thanks so much for your attention to detail and your ongoing support for this app,
Cheers
Danny
Great improvements in 3.0.
I do not like the font change. I think the font should stick closer to iOS conventions.
Great work, keep it up. Bandhelper has been working great for organizing my group.
Noticed that he update is not available on my old iPod (iOS 6), Can devices be linked across versions ? Thanks

That should work, but at some point an incompatibility with iOS 6 might arise and I wouldn't be able to fix it since current app versions require iOS 7.
Thanks I understand that at some point it might break and in order to provide new functionality you cannot be backward compatible forever. Maybe add in the release notes the new system requirements.

This was in the release notes for iOS Version 4.2.5 last fall.
It appears that 3.0 has broken my Bluetooth AirTurn PED interface. The Remote Control monitoring window shows keyboard key 19 & 20 being pressed but none of my layouts will change songs. The app acts like it is getting the wrong keystrokes. The focus moves up/down on lists but songs won't change. I've tried every mapping of up/down in Remote Control. I also reset the app data and started from scratch. The PED is paired and active, Android sees the PED's up/down, the keyboard is disabled, but no song changes. Tested with Android v4.4.2, v5.x, and v6.0 with the same results. Any ideas?
》》Also the button that shows/hides the songlist in layouts is broken.
Fized: The Song list functions different and must be added as an object.
Also...I really miss the old way of editing layouts. It was way quicker since an active layout could be edited without 14 extra menu clicks to toggle to edit and back. An edit button while a layout is in use would be nice.
Thanks!

This is a trade-off for making the layout and set list editing functionality easier to find and cleaning up the set list view a bit.
Hi Arlo,
running SLM 5.0.1 on my iPad4. Thanks for the updated layout functions, they're definitely a major step ahead.
One thing which irritates me: after selecting a smart list, I have to select a layout and only now I can select a song from that list. I would like to skip the layout selection click. I select my songs on stage from smart lists and would prefer not to have to click a layout. Anyway, I'm only using one.
Is there any way to skip the layout selection when working with smart lists?
Thanks,
Harald

No, because the smart list edit and share functions are also in that menu. This is a trade-off for making the layout and smart list editing functionality easier to find and cleaning up the set list view, where those functions used to be located.
Hi Arlo,
Is there anyway to add a setting in general settings that would allow the user to choose the older method of choosing the layout (with the layouts button as in previous versions?).
I find that choosing the layout every time I go into a particular show is cumbersome. I much prefer hard setting the layout overall from a button at the top of my screen as before.
Still loving Setlist Maker though! Just constructive criticism.

Jim P.
No, it would be far too complicated to keep two different styles of navigation in the app.
