Title: How to control iOS Synth Apps in SLM
Post by: dr_rollo on June 23, 2017, 11:36:31 AM
Just thinking about to control a Software App e.g. iPolysix via SLM. I tried to assign a program/patch via Midi Preset as I already do with my hardware keyboards successfully. But have no idea how.
The App appears as a Midi device in SLM when it's started. But I cannot use Midi learn to find out how to control it.

I would ask that app's developer for documentation on what MIDI messages it can respond to.

I'm not trying to hijack a thread, just seeing this read multiple times and hoping someone might have some input.  I've got the same question, but for the Korg Module iOS app.  Unfortunately, Korg is not responding with the necessary information.

Has anyone else had any luck setting up any iOS sound module apps to receive program changes from SLM?  How'd you get them to work?

I'm beginning to consider dropping the synth apps and moving on to an external sound module but want to try this once more.

Can anyone help with this?

Inter-app MIDI is definitely possible, and I've done it myself with Loopy and Sweet MIDI Player. But the actions that can be triggered in the other app via MIDI, if any, will be different for every app and are completely determined by the developer of the other app.
