Title: best way to be ready for next backing track
Post by: Guitarzan on December 14, 2014, 07:34:48 PM
I need to know the best way to understand when a backing track is about to begin. How do I add a 1234 in time with the music so I start on time with the song. Please advise

Is it an option to add some intro clicks to the backing track? That would be the most foolproof approach, but the audience would hear them.

If that's not an option, you could add silence to the beginning of your backing track equal to the number of beats of a count-off you want. Then you could set the tempo for the associated song in Set List Maker, with a tempo auto-stop setting equal to the same number of beats. Then you could enable the Settings > Song Selection Actions to start the tempo and the recording when you select the song.

Alternatively, you could set up automation tracks for each song to play the tempo for however many beats you want, then stop the tempo and start the recording. This is probably cleaner than the previous option because in some situations you might want to hear your backing tracks without that initial silence. But automation tracks require an in-app purchase and will take some time to set up. Either way, I would test this with one song to make sure you like the way it works, before editing all your songs.
