Title: Missing add songs icon?
Post by: Danny on January 26, 2015, 04:01:37 AM
Hi Arlo

I am having a bit of a problem,

I created this database and added my songs after a iPad reset at the weekend,

Database is called Kevin Tyler.

I copied the database and renamed it in case of a problem with a pending  data base sync.

Kevin Tyler copy

If you look at the enclosed screen grabs, the original data base is missing the add songs button but it's present in the copy and I have been able to add a few more songs today,

Any ideas as to what is going on here, I have made no changes to the settings since I made the original and the copy database Saturday gone.

Many thanks

Danny

Is am on iOS 8.1.2.

And the penultimate version of slm

I reset the pad because the number of songs in my database doubled after adding a previously loaded playlist that a few new songs had been added to.

Many ghanks

It looks like you turned on Settings > General Settings > Read Only Database. That would hide all the add and edit buttons.

I don't recall doing that , to be honest I didn't even know that feature existed, let me take a look,

A haaar

Yes you are right,  somehow I was under the impression that the read only setting protected the database from syncing with an out of date device, I didn't realize it affected normal use of the app like importing from a playlist etc,

Ok sorry to bother you arlo,

Thanks so much

Danny

The read only setting prevents you from making any changes in the database. You can use it if your band has decided to use a master/slave relationship between synced devices, or if you want to prevent someone with physical access to your device (e.g., family members) from accidentally changing your data.

Thanks so much arlo

I get it now, I hadn't used sync much since my old iPhone was faulty, it's a great option read only because I soon managed to sync my old database with the wrong settings on a brand new phone last weekend.
