Repertoire Help / Re: Issues with the Notes Fiel...

Sure, this is on my Mac but it's the same on my iPad. You can see that the little drop down for the font size is covering part of the note. The drop down also becomes scrollable but it's impossible to actually use, especially on a touch screen.

I know I have it sized small but I think most people want the notes field to be relatively small compared to other things in their layout.

Can you post a screen shot showing the problem?

1. You can turn off Settings > Advanced > General > Auto-Scroll Song List.

2. Did you turn on Settings > Audio & MIDI > Audio Options > Multi-Route Audio and then set the desired channels for your audio files?

P.S. In the future, please create a separate post for each topic.

Repertoire Help / Issues with the Notes Field in...
Last post by Insider0203 - June 02, 2025, 10:10:42 AM
Hi Arlo,

Another issue I have found is with the notes field in layouts. If it's too small, it's very difficult to use. I have mine set to be like "footnotes" at the bottom of the document viewer. I have it spaced out to be wide, but not very tall. The little UI element for managing and saving the font size becomes unusable because it requires more vertical space. Additionally, the font size button usually ends up covering part of the text. Perhaps in a future, the text can just behave more like the "title" field, where it just automatically sizes to the box? Or there would have to be a better UI element for managing the text size

Repertoire Help / Questions about full screen ly...
Last post by Insider0203 - June 02, 2025, 08:36:05 AM
Hi Arlo,

I currently use a Split View layout as my main layout. I feel like this is the best way for my band to use Bandhelper as it pretty much shows all the essential information automatically.

However, there are times where I want a full screen document. Previous versions of Bandhelper had a simple double tap on any document to make it full screen. However, this is being phased out as it's apparently an inherent source of bugs.

The alternative suggested is to just make a separate layout for full screen documents. However, I have found that this approach has two main issues...

1. It is much slower. It takes several seconds to load a new layout. Even once the new layout is visible, the screen is frozen for a moment before it fully loads and is fully usable. This can be a little disorienting, especially mid performance. The amount of time probably varies from device to device and also may have to do with the fact that my band has exceptionally large setlists. But nonetheless, it was much quicker when bandhelper only had to load the full screen version of one document rather than a whole new layout.

2. Getting to a full screen doc now requires a minimum of two actions. I have only two active layouts: split screen and full screen lyrics. I set up an app control action for three finger tap to switch between layouts. The three finger tap switches layouts no problem, albeit slowly. However, the full screen lyrics layout always displays the song list first. You must then reselect the song to see close the song list and then view the lyrics, adding an additional gesture, and also more time to the process. I have discovered a work around for this. It involves making a layout with the song list on top, but then making the songlist as small as possible so it's not visible. This is very cumbersome and not intuitive.

Those are the two main issues I've encountered. Perhaps I'm missing something and maybe there is a way to quickly switch to a full screen doc with just one gesture. But that brings me to just a more general comment: the layout designer is rather confusing. I have become pretty familiar with it but certain things still confuse me. It's not clear why the song list disappears or the document viewer appears in one layout or another. Also, there seems to be a third layering option that's only available through using one of the templates. The overlapping buttons template puts the buttons and fields on top of the document viewer. There doesn't seem to be a way to create this without using the template.

Any advice or insight would be appreciated. I'm probably just missing something because I'm always surprised to find something new that bandhelper can do.

Repertoire Help / Two Performance issues - Set l...
Last post by Danno - June 02, 2025, 07:08:00 AM
Hello all,

So I have been using BH for a while now and when gigging I have two issues that I need some assistance on:

First, I use split view to drive tracks and lights from behind the drum set. Lately, my song list started scrolling down on me during the performance, so it becomes difficult to scroll back to find my place in the set.. this takes time and stalls the performance - and it only seems to happen on my iPad.. any thoughts on a setting to fix this? Note-the autoscroll works fine in the lyrics side of the split view.. This is the left hand side where the set list is shown.

Second, I started setting up a second recording for cues - this works fine, however I have been having issues with multi audio routing..  Details - I use a lightning to USB adapter connected to a Mackie USB stereo direct box for two sends to the main mixer (one for FOH and one for in-ear cues) - I also take the headphone out into a personal mixer for my in-ears (click track). I am finding during show setup that sometimes headphone jack overrides the USB or vice versa and then have to argue with BH to get both functional, which can be very stressful right before a show. Any thoughts on how I can better set this up (and not take years off my life)?

Is Settings > General > Paste Text Formatting turned on? If the links still don't carry over with that on, then you will have to add the links to your text within BandHelper.

You might be able to scroll your multi-song PDF to the correct page, zoom it a little bit and then save the zoom level. But I recommend splitting your documents into separate songs. This will make it much easier to add and update your documents because you will be able to update one song without affecting all the other songs.

You can go to Layouts, click the + button at the top of the list and add the Split View layout or one of the other layout templates shown here:
