I see a lot of people ask about setting tempo using MIDI on the Boss RC-600. I use Bandhelper to do just that.

You will need to set up an assignment on the RC-600.

In this assignment, set the tempo range from 65 to 192.
This range should cover most songs. Any songs outside this tempo range, I just set up as it's own memory.

Then in your assignment section, select which CC number you want to use.
Let's pick out 100 as an example.

So, on the RC 600 in the assignment section. You are selecting midi CC100,
Tempo with a range of 65 to 192.

Now in Bandhelper, you are going to set up a MIDI command to be sent to the RC 600.
You will use midi cc 100.
Because of the range we set,
If you send a Velocity 000 message on MIDI cc100.
It will set your tempo at 65.

If you send a Velocity message of 127 on cc100 it Will set your tempo to 192.

So with a little math we can figure all the cc100 messages needed for each tempo.
Tempo - 65 = X on CC100

So, if we had a tempo of 120, we do this:
120 - 65 = 55 on CC100.

If we had a tempo of 89 we do this
89 - 65 = 24 on CC100

If we have a tempo of 69 we do this
69 - 65 = 04 on CC100

And so on.

At this point I have gone into the Bandhelper Midi Presets and already made a preset for each BPM I might use.   Then I simply add whatever particular preset I need to the corresponding song.
