Losing formatting for pasted in lyrics

I am starting to paste in lyrics for songs ...some from online sources, some from text files I already have ... I sometimes seem to retain formatting (chords stay lined up with lyrics as expected) ...then other times I lose the formatting.  I have tried proofing my formatting in Notepad so I know it's all lined up ... but it still comes over in BH with lost formatting.

Is there a preferred way to paste in lyrics to retain formatting?  And I am not using things like bold/italics/etc ... I mean keeping plain courier text lined up on each line as it looks in a plain text editor like Notepad.

Thank you,

ER

Just to be clear for anyone else reading this, I regard "formatting" as bold, italic, left/right alignment and color. What you're asking about is aligning lyrics and maybe chords in different lines using spaces in your text.

The first thing to know is that you will need to set Settings > Appearance > Lyrics Font to Monospace if you want to align text in this manner. Otherwise every letter will have a different width and it will be impossible to align things accurately.

The other thing is that the sources you're pasting from might use methods other than spaces to align text -- maybe tabs, or HTML tables. BandHelper doesn't support tabs or HTML in its text fields, so if this is the problem, you'll have to realign things using spaces.

If you follow those two steps, the alignment should work reliably.

I assume you mean Fixed for the font default in appearance.  I did try that and had the same problem.  I verified that in the Notepad document I do have spaces between the chords.  I attached a couple of screenshots.

I will try another browser and see what happens...this is happening to me using Chrome.

Thanks for the help,

Works for me using IE.  That's good for me for now...thanks,

Oops, the lyrics font option is named Monospace in the app, but not in the web interface. I just updated the web interface to match.
