Hello. Apologies in advance from a newbie. Didn't find an answer with some searching.

I tried a layout where recording controls are on top of the document window. They don't seem to work. i tried sending the document window to the back. Tried also adding an overlapping item. Still no joy.

When I resize the document window wo it doesn't overlap the recording controls, works fine.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Those layering controls only work when editing the layout. The layering when you view a layout is predefined.

It makes sense that the recording controls should be on top the document viewer. However, I'm not sure it makes sense that you'd ever want those two items to overlap. Can you describe or post a screen shot of what you'd want to do with that?

It seems that many (all?) layout objects are transparent when overlapped with and on top of the document window. Seeing a partially obscured full-size document is an option I would prefer over having to reduce the size of the document window in order to use recording controls.

Yes, you can place other buttons on top the document viewer and they'll work correctly. However, the recording controls is a set of several buttons and sliders, which takes up more space and supports several different gestures, so I can imagine a lot of conflicts when placing that on top the document viewer.

If you don't need the loop and speed controls, you can resize the recording controls to half height, then you would only need to reduce the height of the document viewer by about 30 pixels to make room for it.

Today's release allows placing the recording controls on top the document viewer. Like other buttons, they will get a semitransparent background when this happens:
