Hi everyone, I give kudos to Arlo because BH is really an application that is open to any kind of customization.

I start from my need: I would like to use the marker function in lyrics synchronized with the playback of a backing track. I am currently working with Camelot Pro for MIDI and sequence management, and being able to send midi messages on the timeline, I wanted to make a winning combination with BH.

Before proceeding in this way, however, as an alternative I thought of using BH's automations in this way: start backing and simultaneously start recording the automation. Through on-screen keys or MIDI messages from outside I register the marker change, and everything seems to work. Unfortunately, on very long tracks, if you make a mistake on the automation, you have to go back and redo or edit the automation recording. I would like to have this functionality via WEB, with some kind of faster editing to correct those little problems in recording.

PS: I couldn't find the remote control to start the recording of the automation, isn't this action provided?

Thanks, I'm glad you are using the customization options!

After recording, you can long-press the automation button and select Edit to adjust the timing of recorded events, or manually add or remove events. You can also add the Automation Controls to a layout, then use the progress slider to jump to different locations while playing or recording an automation track. (But if you're playing the backing track from a different app, that wouldn't be very useful because the backing track location wouldn't sync with the automation track location.)

There is no option to start automation track recording from remote control. You would need to use the automation button on the screen.

I may have found what I need. Starting an automation recording, and playing a loaded recording (in my case I loaded my backing track that I use externally for time references) I noticed that the "Automation Contols" widget shows me on a timeline the points where the automations were recorded. This makes it easier to make corrections. I also noticed that if I run the automation recording, and play a recording, in the "Automation Contols" widget I will also have the waveform. Since in my case I do not need to play audio from BH during live performances, is it possible to have the waveform appear without having to record a play? In that world I could go back and forth even with the audio (from the recording) connected to the timeline of the automations, that would be great!

The automation controls will only show the waveforms of audio that the automation track plays. If you want to always show a waveform but sometimes not play audio from the app, you could include the recording in your automation track but simply turn down the device volume when you don't want to hear it playing.

Ok Arlo, I'll take this advice.

One last clarification. Is the automation track linked to the user or the song? It happened to me that a non-administrator user, with the permission to be able to modify only his own data, could not get the automation to work, not even to register a new one. By enabling the user to modify all data, he started working again.

A user with Added Data editing access can play an automation track for a song you added but cannot edit it.

A user with Added Data editing access can add their own automation track to use instead of yours if they turn on Settings > Account Sync > Personal Sync > Automation Tracks.

You're right, I forgot that each user can choose what to sync, great!

... now I can do everything, but if I can make a request among the things to be included in future developments, I would add a more comfortable editor, perhaps only on the web part, for automations. For example if you wanted to take all the points and move them forward n seconds, that would not be possible currently. Think about it :)

If you change the timing of an automation event, there is an option you can select to change all the following events by the same amount.

Editing an automation track from the website is on my wish list, but this would be less useful because you can't record or play automation tracks from there (because most of the functionality controlled by automation tracks does not exist there).

Yes of course, from the Web it's just a question of seeing the events recorded by the devices (ipad/etc) and editing them ... moving them, rearranging them, canceling them, group actions, etc ... that's all I meant. Anyway, thanks.

Sorry Arlo, but I'm not getting around to solving a new problem.

For one user (the singer, not admin) I set editing to "Added data". Then once I logged in with his account I set the Account Sync selecting "Automation tracks". When I log in from ipad (or app on macOS) to his account, both Automation Button and Automation Controls do not allow me to record or do other operations. What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure you set the user's editing level to Added Data and not None?

Did you remove the account from the device you're testing with and add it again with the different login info? Simply changing the login info to a different user on the Settings > General page is not supported.

What do you mean by "do not allow me" -- what specifically do you see?

Yes, I also uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the iPad. Removed the user and re-added it. Nothing, with the "Added data" option the buttons of the "Automation controls" widget are all deactivated. The single "automation" key instead, holding it down makes me record. Once something is recorded, the "Automation controls" also activate, but only the play and copy keys. I think there is something wrong in "Automation controls" and the "Added data" option, because switching to "All data" all buttons of the "Automation controls" widget are functional.

This should be enabled if the user is set to Added Data but their Settings > Account Sync > Personal Sync > Automation Tracks is on. I'll check that for the next update.
