Is there a chance of a BH Midi Viewer?
With a bunch of real-time Midi events to manage for guitar(s) and mixer, it's not easy to see if what's happening is just what's needed and when, at home, without getting the guitar gear and the digital mixer and its control screen into the very small space in my 'office'.  I rarely set them up in there for any other reasons.

So I'm imagining a BH view/viewer, showing the current state of selected midi devices:  One or more sizeable boxes, optionally per-device, containing chosen buttons or controls, to at least see what switches/effects are on/off and when that happens; and probably pointed knobs (with value, depending on size?) for CC items.  Nice if I can press the buttons at the required moment (as can be done now) but with one button for On and Off (lit while on) instead of separate on & off preset icons.  The existing ones don't remain 'on', being separate for the 2 tasks.  Possibly draggable-to-edit knob values.
I can imagine this being in a re-sizeable block in BH layouts or perhaps a larger one, 'following' on a separate device - a phone or even a PC window - via Bluetooth?  (this is a home-use situation).
Current 'patch' too.
Can I currently see at least how many events are in a song for each device? I don't think so.  A nice, reassuring comfort feature for those new songs.

All of this would require a couple of extra items in the Device/Preset definitions, to associate a pair for a button and allocate colours. Perhaps a very brief label for least real-estate.

Isn't that displayed when you tap the MIDI Icon?

Yes, clicking the MIDI button in the top toolbar shows an Activity Log that is good for  troubleshooting any setup problems. The OP is describing something more like a GUI MIDI controller, except to display the results of outgoing MIDI rather than to send MIDI.

I have the ability to build a custom MIDI controller interface on my wish list, but this has always been conceived for the purpose of manually sending MIDI values. But I guess it could also reflect MIDI values that were sent from presets. I'll make a note of that.

You also mentioned "one button for On and Off (lit while on) instead of separate on & off preset icons." You can do that now using the Paired Preset function. You would create two presets, for the On and Off value of a setting, then edit the On preset and select the Off preset as a paired preset. Then attach only the On preset to your song. Then you will get a single button in the layout that acts as an on/off toggle.

Yes indeed, a GUI version.  My idea being to emulate my Helix guitar board in a way that's particularly familiar because buttons light up when 'on'; and I could arrange them the same, regardless of controller number or name.
That thought led on to any device, since they all talk the same language.

Sorry, I had missed the Paired Presets feature.  That's heading the right way already.
Good man, Arlo.
