Problems displaying document

I have a Samsung 10A tablet (SM-T500) running Android Version 7.0 and App Version 2.2.10. I have the lyrics of my songs stored as documents. I have a Layout that lists all my song titles with two button links, one to play the song file and the second to display the lyrics document.

Often, when I click on the document button, it goes to a blank screen. I can sometimes get the document to display by tapping on the screen with two fingers. If that causes the lyrics to be displayed, I have to scroll up to get to the top of the document. But if that doesn't work, I click the Android back button and click on the document button again to redisplay the document. If I repeat this once or more, it eventually displays.

I've been living with for a couple months but it really is a distraction when doing a live show. Can you help?
