Issues with the Notes Field in layouts

Hi Arlo,

Another issue I have found is with the notes field in layouts. If it's too small, it's very difficult to use. I have mine set to be like "footnotes" at the bottom of the document viewer. I have it spaced out to be wide, but not very tall. The little UI element for managing and saving the font size becomes unusable because it requires more vertical space. Additionally, the font size button usually ends up covering part of the text. Perhaps in a future, the text can just behave more like the "title" field, where it just automatically sizes to the box? Or there would have to be a better UI element for managing the text size

Can you post a screen shot showing the problem?

Sure, this is on my Mac but it's the same on my iPad. You can see that the little drop down for the font size is covering part of the note. The drop down also becomes scrollable but it's impossible to actually use, especially on a touch screen.

I know I have it sized small but I think most people want the notes field to be relatively small compared to other things in their layout.

I think typically the Notes field will contain multiple lines of text and will be sized larger so you can view most of the text without scrolling. If you want a one-line field with a small amount of text, I recommend using a custom field instead. The text in a custom field is sized based on the field's height and doesn't require pinch-zooming or saving the text size.
