Multi-tracks and multiple versions

Hello. I apologize if this topic has been covered. I've been searching this site and can't quite seem to pinpoint these exact questions, but I'm pretty sure the answer is in there somewhere! If not, I appreciate any help or feedback.

I've used Bandhelper for my single and it works flawlessly. With the band I use Ableton with a Behringer UMC-1820 to separate the tracks for both click and depending on what players I have on that particular gig. Pretty standard stuff.

Finding out that Bandhelper can do something similar is exciting, as I'd rather not haul around my MacBook and all the stuff Ableton requires (wired footswitches, ect...) With that said, here are a few questions I have.

1) When setting up the outputs, will the 2 tracks I use in my single automatically default to 1/2? I imagine that's the case. With multi-track versions, will I have to re-assign the outputs globally when switching over from single to band use or make different versions for each song? The L/R versions in my single have drums in them. I use a different mixer for the single show and would prefer not to eat up 4 channels with L/R and drums in stereo. With the band I have 32 channels so that's not an issue.

2) I tried connecting the UMC directly to a new iPad Pro 13 via a USB-C cable. Bandhelper sees it, but no audio comes out. I've also read there is no way to charge the iPad that way. I may use an iPad Pro with a camera kit, as I've read that seems to be able to charge the unit at the same time. The camera kits are on order so I should know if that works.

Any input or feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Scottt

The way to output different combinations of tracks in different shows is to attach all the track you would use to your songs, in the same order for every song. Then you can change Settings > Audio & MIDI > Play Recordings Together before each show to select what tracks you want to play. (Multi-track playback is not available on Android.)

I expect that if you don't assign multi-route audio settings, all audio would come out channels 1-2 of your audio interface, but that's up to the audio interface.

Other users have reported that multi-route output doesn't work with the Behringer UMC1820: http://forum.arlomedia.com/index.php/topic,2812.msg12108.html#msg12108. Let us know if it works for you.
