Repertoire Help / Turning off Tempo also turns off MIDI Clock
« Last post by go2ldook on May 28, 2019, 08:10:34 PM »
Is there a way to set up Bandhelper to turn off the click sound without actually turning off the MIDI Clock. I noticed this was an issue using my Infinity Looper. I have it synced to the MIDI Clock but when playing live I would like the click sound available for a few seconds to get me in time to the MIDI Clock. The problem is, when I set the Tempo for "Auto-stop", that appears to not only turn off the MIDI Clock, but apparently sends a MIDI Stop command to my looper, as the current playing loop stops when the tempo stops.

I guess I am requesting a feature that turns the tempo sound off without turning off the tempo itself. I think this would be an important feature for the above reason. Some band members find the click a little distracting and prefer it off (despite the fact they still need to stay in time with the loop). So turning off the click sound only would be helpful.

Repertoire Help / Re: Infinity Looper MIDI Clock
« Last post by go2ldook on May 28, 2019, 01:57:19 PM »
OK...so I fixed it. First fix was I created a MIDI file to play with the recording. MIDI file was bare bones...just created a blank sequence in FLStudio that had no data other than the tempo. Loaded it to play simultaneously with the recording and that worked...basically it introduced a MIDI START command into the MIDI stream

After some research I learned that the Hex command for MIDI START is "FA" (it says 0xFA when you go to a MIDI chart, but they throw stuff like "0x" in to tell you that "FA" is a hex command, and probably to confuse us guitarists a bit. Anyway, instead of creating a MIDI file for songs where I use the looper, I now just put in "FA" (without the quotes, to be clear) under the Raw Midi Hex code section in my MIDI Preset for each song, make sure I select Infinity Looper as my Raw Midi Device, and now I have a MIDI START signal going to get the Infinity recognizing the MIDI Clock from Bandhelper.

ANOTHER important part is that my iPad plugs into my PBC Mastermind loop switcher, which also can generate a MIDI clock, so I have to go into its settings and set it up as a MIDI Clock "slave", so it will past the MIDI Clock from Bandhelper.

This has taken a LOT of trial and error on my part and reading to understand this whole MIDI START issue, so I hope this post helps someone who is struggling. I have sent all this to the guys at Pigtronix, but they really were not a lot of help. I had to figure this out on my own.

Repertoire Help / Re: Setlist - Event relation
« Last post by Chris on May 28, 2019, 01:01:35 PM »
Hi arlo,

sorry for bringing this topic back up but I am seeing a similar behavior since I switched from "Pro" to "Plus".
One of my users is not having the ability to change an event of a setlist while I am able to.

Should I submit an according ticket?

Regards,
Chris

Arlo, I suspect the issue is that Bandhelper, unlike  sequencer, so not send a MIDI Start command when you play a song. I don't know if this is a feature that could be added or if anyone out there familiar with MIDI can give me advice. One thought I had was using a separate program called MidiBus to do it, though I am not even sure if that program just sends a Midiclock signal or actually the STart command.

I am no expert, but I have tried hooking my looper up to Bandhelper as a MIDI Clock source as well as my PBC Mastermind, and neither worked. But hook it to my FLStudio program on my computer and it works great. Not what I prefer to do live though.

Schedule Help / Re: Recurrent events, standing gigs, etc.
« Last post by LesStrangers on May 28, 2019, 11:55:37 AM »
I have noticed a bug with the recurring schedule. I'm scheduling a standing gig we do every First Thursday of the month, and I've scheduled it until December 20th. For some buggy reason, it does alright and then suddenly kicks over to every Wednesday. I've tried double-checking my date entries, but can't seem to get it to correct.

(At first, one of my bandmates said that it scheduled until the end of this year, 2019, on Weds, then switched over to Thursdays.) So I thought perhaps it didn't like skipping years, perhaps a leap year thing. So I scheduled it until 2019, and got 2019 straight, then did a new repeat schedule on Jan 2020 through Dec 2020.  January & February were correct, but then it scheduled the rest of the months on Weds. again.

A fly must have flown into the ointment on this one plug-in.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Flic buttons

I have backed the new Flic-buttons and will update once I receive them (which will most probably take until fall this year as per the current schedule).

Repertoire Help / Import from SetList Maker ... Midi Preset issues
« Last post by pingber on May 28, 2019, 05:55:32 AM »
Hello All... I’ve been using SLM fOR years and like it a lot... but it’s time to migrate to BH. So, I exported the SLM database, imported into BH. MIDI presets were imported as expected, but none of the midi controller data transferred. Is this normal or do I need to do something else? I hate the idea of having to enter 676 program changes!  ???

Thanks
Phil

Repertoire Help / Re: Text placeholder for new Personal Transpose feature
« Last post by JerryK on May 28, 2019, 03:46:59 AM »
Actually, it will need negating of course.  Transposing the played chords down arises from the capo being placed on a positive fret position. Negatives too, from de-tuning - easily done on a Variax guitar or by picking up a larger sax.
I'm sure you worked all that out long ago.
I'm still reeling from trying to edit a Transposed song on the web page - and then on the iPad.  ;D

Repertoire Help / Text placeholder for new Personal Transpose feature
« Last post by JerryK on May 27, 2019, 03:40:24 PM »
Personal Transpose.  Great feature.
But it needs documenting in the top of the Lyrics and/or Chords section of songs when used.  It seems a shame to just type in an unchanging "CAPO 3" (in my case - guitar of course) when we're all using computers/tablets/phones to display our BH content.
A logical alternative would be a placeholder for whatever chosen shift: "CAPO <transpose>" or similar, which will then keep up with any changes.  This would be a very useful addition.

I also use a Personal Field for my personal tuning arrangements, containing perhaps (currently) "CAPO 3", which I display after the Key in the SetList for the same purpose.  It would be good to have the same feature available there too.  How about, additionally, a placeholder for the resultant key, i.e. "CAPO <transpose>, play <transkey>".  This is trivial inside the lyrics/chords, using just the original [chord] but there's no way in a Personal Field.

Maybe a small digit in the "#" or "b" button would be generally useful too, including for on-the-fly use of those buttons.  I'm not so sure about that one but I'm sure you'll give it some thought.
