Repertoire Help / Re: Project based Transpose?
Last post by hopehighway - November 09, 2024, 02:28:15 PM
Quote from: arlo on October 08, 2024, 12:21:35 AMWould it be more useful to set a personal transpose for all songs at the project level?
Yes, but having it auto-fill personal transpose when adding an existing song to a different project would be best (IMO).  I've pondered this for a while, as I play several songs in different keys with a trio, a duo, or solo.  But this might be a bigger issue, as that would offset the key, and the there could still be an additional personal transpose (for capo, for instance).

Did you set your desired actions on the Settings > App Control page?

More info is here:

Repertoire Help / Problem setting up 'page turni...
Last post by RedWolf - November 07, 2024, 05:37:11 PM
I've been using Bandhelper for several years (finger swipe style) with my old Galaxy Tab S no problems.
I also have Bandhelper setup on my Galaxy S21 Ultra phone as a backup.
I decided to add a bluetooth page turner to the setup. I chose a M-Vave Cube Turner.

The Cube Turner works perfectly as expected on the phone but not at all on the tablet.
The software 'Cube Suite' is setup on both devices.
I eventually gave up on the old tablet and bought an iPad Pro 11" (gen3).
I'm having the same problem with the iPad.
It's probably not a Bandhelper issue but I'm hoping some of the members here may have some insight.
It's incredible frustrating.

You could remove the Song Selection trigger for the Send MIDI action. Then whether you select a song from the foot switch's Next MIDI Preset Or Song action, or by clicking a song title on the screen, no MIDI would be sent until you press the foot switch button again. This means you would need to do an extra foot switch button press when changing songs from the foot switch button, to send the first MIDI preset for the new song.

If you have a second foot switch button available, you could assign one button to Next MIDI Preset and the other to Next Song and Send MIDI. Then when you select a song with the second foot switch button, the first MIDI preset would be sent, but when you select a song by clicking it on the screen, its MIDI would not be sent. You could then send it from the first foot switch button when you're ready.

An added benefit of the second option is that there's no risk of accidentally changing songs if you forget how many MIDI presets are attached to a song, like you would with the Next MIDI Preset Or Song action.

Repertoire Help / Send MIDI only when selecting ...

One feature that I want to see added to Bandhelper is the ability to "queue" songs.I have made other posts about it in the past.

But in lieu of that feature, I was wondering if something else would be possible.

I currently have Bandhelper configured to send Midi once a song is selected. I have an external MIDI foot switched mapped to the "next song or MIDI preset" function. Once a song loads, it sends its first MIDI preset. I can then use the foot switch to step to the next preset. If there are no more presets, it goes to the next song.

However, if there's a change to the setlist mid performance, I'd like to be able to tap a song from the song list but have it NOT send it's MIDI preset until I press the foot switch. This would perform almost the same function as "queuing" a next song.

In the Program Changes section of the MIDI Preset edit page, each device and channel has three fields, for MSB, LSB and Program. So you would put your numbers into the third field.

BTW it sounds like Roland is counting program numbers from 1-128, so you can set that option on the MIDI Device edit page. Otherwise you would have to enter one number lower than the program number you want to select.

MIDI Help / Sending Program Changes from t...
Last post by realmacsummrs - November 06, 2024, 02:05:30 PM
Hi Folks,

Trying to send Program Changes to a Roland TR-8S (drum machine).  I asked Roland what the correct MSB/LSB codes were and got this response from them:

"You won't use MSB/LSB, just PC 1-128"

Where on the MIDI Preset page would I enter these PC Codes?

Thanks

P.S. I see that you can click and drag the scroll indicator on the right side of any scrolling list. That's consistent with how other Mac windows work. It's hard to see against a PDF unless you created PDFs with dark backgrounds, but it's there.
