Repertoire Help / App control with Ampero Contro...
Last post by jeff9661 - April 20, 2024, 04:13:19 PM
I have an Ampero Footswitch connected to BandHelper via USB and have reviewed the information on this page several times.

https://www.bandhelper.com/tutorials/app_control.html

For now, all I want to do is:

1) Trigger the next song and previous song actions
2) Trigger the automation button on my layout, which starts the backing track recording and scrolls the layout as the song progresses.

I have set up Ampero Control to send on channel 15 and I successfully receive the message in BandHelper in the MIDI Status.

My problem is I'm not sure whether to use Foot Switch Messages or one of the MIDI Messages (System, Controller or Note). I have tried several options and cannot get it to work.

Using the Foot Switch Message I went to the action "Next Song", selected Footswitch and then the number 1 and then saved.

Ampero Control

https://hotoneaudio.oss-cn-shenzhen.aliyuncs.com/prod/support/Ampero%20Control_Online%20Manual_EN.1627955300367.pdf

The Ampero Control is set-up via their app on my iPhone (see attached screen grab).

CH: 15
Type: Note ON
Data1: 1
Data2" 0
Output:USB

When I go to a set list and view the MIDI status and trigger the foot switch I get the following in the activity log and the Keyboard Enabled activity log and it does not work as expected, nothing happens:

18:51:22:167 - received data [9E,01,00] from EC-4

I also then set MIDI Note messages to Note 1 while keeping the Footswitch setting above and that did not work either.

I feel I'm close but just not sure on what type of message to send, CC, Note On or Note OFF and the specific values for those settings. Trial by error is no fun :(

I have not tried to trigger the automation button yet and need to get that info correct as well.

Thanks, in advance for any help or advice on this.

Jeff

Repertoire Help / Re: BandHelper and DMX (Lumina...

Is similar to what I do - BandHelper sends Bluetooth to my Fractal for guitar setup, and same iPad runs Photon2 that BH sends MIDI to: this sends Wifi DMX to my network where I have an ArtNet device (dmxking) connected for lighting changes. I have various BH MIDI presets for light changes and run an automation on song selection for initial Fractal Setup and light scene setup per song (and turns Reverb off on my mixer for speaking parts), then my Fractal will also send MIDI commands on Fractal 'scene changes' to change light scenes as I run through the song. I also have a footswitch connected to Fractal that sends 'Blackout' Light scene for the end of each song, or whenever I choose to...

Is not flawless and takes some tap dancing sometimes, but I am playing guitar and running lights and mixing sound from stage, so that is to be expected. Maybe I should get 3 cuts for my trouble?

Hopefully someone else can suggest a specific lighting controller to use. I can say that all the connections options you mentioned -- virtual MIDI (meaning another app on the same device), Bluetooth or a MIDI cable should work.

Repertoire Help / BandHelper and DMX (Luminaire ...
Last post by cfautley - April 19, 2024, 06:40:32 AM
I use BandHelper to connect to a widijack via Bluetooth, to send midi to a gt1000core to set guitar patches - this works great. Pressing a song on BandHelper sets my pedalboard switches/patches for that song.
What I'd also like to do is set the colour on our band lights for each song. I'm very flexible on how to do this and I'm interested on how others have done this.
Ideally another ipad app that receives the midi signals sent from BandHelper and sends DMX via WiFi? - can BandHelper connect to a Bluetooth device and another midi device at the same time maybe?
Or maybe a physical midi to DMX device ?
So, in summary,  I'm looking for one press on a BandHelper song to set my pedalboard patch (this bit works already) AND sets the DMX lights on the same press.
Any help or experience appreciated

So I finally got the drummer in my band to agree to that Bandhelper is a really good tool. He has only one thing he don't like with it and that is when he do markings in pdf it gets really bad quality. The picture show the top markings done in bandhelper, and the lower "A" done outside bandhelper.

Is there something he´s doing wrong? (drummers aren't the smartest people on earth, keyboardist is).

Thanks, Arlo.  So the automation track can only be created/edited in the context of a set list view, but its data/metadata is persisted with the song and will be instantaneously available to that song in any setlist.  Thank you.

The automation track is part of the song and will be available in every set list where you use that song.

Repertoire Help / Tips for how to manage automat...

One thing that I'm not quite clear on is where automation tracks are stored.  If automation tracks are created in the context of a set list editor (as opposed to the song editor), then it seems that I would need to re-create an automation track for a song every time I add that song to a new setlist.  That seems very inefficient, so I assume I'm missing something.  Can an automation track be bound to a song so that it always comes along with the song when added to any setlist?

Sorry if this topic has been discussed, but I couldn't find the answer using the search feature.
