What does that song look like after you click the button to remove the brackets around the headings but before you click the button again to add the brackets around the chords?

Since you have some chords embedded into the lyrics with square brackets, then yes, you do need to put every chord in square brackets.

I've never considered mixing ChordPro formatting with a section of bar lines like you're doing. I would recommend leaving the square brackets out of that first section and doing the chord coloring and transposing manually if you need to do that.

Alternatively, you can put sections of just chords in the Chords field as shown in step 8 on this page:

Repertoire Help / ChordPro Format
Last post by ElleBiba - November 20, 2025, 10:18:59 PM
Hi there,

Is it really necessary to put square brackets around every chord?

To save myself some work, I always set chords like this:
Intro:
[|Gm      |Cm      |Gm      |A       |]
[|Gm      |Cm      |Gm      |A       |]

[|Gm      |Gm      |]

This also displays properly. But if I want to transpose, these chords don't get transposed.

However, I do need the bar lines. Do I have to put every bar line in square brackets as well? If I do that, the alignment no longer works correctly.

Do you have any recommendations?

Hi there,

I copy lyrics and chords from Ultimate Guitar and paste them into the lyrics window. Then I press [C] once to remove the square brackets for [Intro], [Verse], etc.
When I press [C] again, the chords are converted into ChordPro format. But this only works for half of the song, while the other half ends up completely misaligned.

The photos show my version of Firefox, then the result in Firefox, and the same result in Edge.

Could you, dear Arlo, take a look at this?

Many thanks,
Elle

Here's an update for 2025. I just tried this again with my original Soundbrenner Pulse and the current Soundbrenner and BandHelper apps.

I was not able to control the Soundbrenner with MIDI. The Soundbrenner app has MIDI input settings and shows the input port from BandHelper, but it always says "disconnected."

With Ableton link, the Soundbrenner now starts and stops from the tempo function in BandHelper, as well as playing at the tempo programmed into BandHelper. It still does not play in sync with BandHelper's tempo. So you can use this as a convenient way to control the Soundbrenner, but you will not be able to watch the tempo flash or play a sound from BandHelper at the same time.

Repertoire Help / FaceTime for help
Last post by cachou - November 19, 2025, 02:56:43 PM
Would someone be nice enough to do a FaceTime with me? I am trying to set up the rig blue turn so that I can go to the next page of my song.
I just cannot figure how to do it. Let me know. Thanks, Andre.

I don't recall anyone being confused about this, and over the last year the two functions have diverged in their presentation (directly editing a set list is now available from the set list view, and "quick add" is now called "search"), so I expect the chance of confusion will decrease further. But I'll add this to your request.

Hi Arlo, I've been using both quick add and editing setlist from the setlist view more and more. These are great features but I wanted to double down on what I requested originally.

While the quick add and live editing are great features, I think the distinctions between them can get lost on the user. They both can add songs to the set, but one saves the changes, the other doesn't, unless you toggle it to do so in the advanced settings.

Instead of having a save prompt pop-up like I originally suggested, what if the app behaved like this:

Whenever a change is made to the setlist in setlist view, whether it's from quick adding or using the edit setlist window, a small icon appears in the top menu bar that indicates the set has been changed.

The user can tap the icon for saving options: "Save changes", "Save Changes as New Set List" or "Discard Changes"

If the user doesn't tap the icon, the changes are discarded like how the app currently functions.
